This
article is pretty interesting. A Kansas State University nutrition professor set out to lose 25 lbs, and did this by eating junk food. He calculated that he would need to consume 600-800 calories less than usual. When he started his diet, he did not fill his meals with vegetables or whole grains. Instead, he ate pre-packaged Hostess foods. After a little while, the pounds started to melt away. He wanted to see if junk food was the main cause for the obesity epidemic. He proved that one can eat junk food, but it's the amount of it that matters. Americans eat way too much junk food and rely on fast food and fried items. This article was interesting to me because this professor lost weight by eating junk food. I think that everything is ok in moderation and it is
alright to eat junk food on occasion. He did however show that it is the amount that matters. If you expend more calories than you consume, then you will lose weight. As far as your body functioning properly, one should have a well-balanced diet and engage in regular exercise.
I think this article is very interesting! What a great idea the professor had to show people that it isn't always about eating a perfectly nutritious meal ( though it does help) but rather the portion sizes that you choose. It is very true that people today do not take into account the actual amount of food they are putting into their bodies. People will blame the unhealthy foods for their increases in weight when in actuality it is the amount of food they are consuming. I think that this study is very interesting and I am sure was a real eye opener for some people.
ReplyDeleteInteresting srticle. Not only do we need a balanced diet for our body to work right but the excercise is important. In return, with proper nutrion and exercise is the vast difference in the energy, cognitive, and mood levels one experiences with proper nutrition.
ReplyDeleteThat's very interesting! It makes sense that if one eats junkfood, very moderately, and doesn't eat anything else than losing weight is possible. As long as he is burning more calories than he consumes than weight will eventually be lost, however very unhealthy! Teaches you that losing weight has a lot to do with calories consumed rather than just being healthy. If someone ate a lot of healthy food it would still be bad. But as I said, eating a lot of junk food may have led to him losing weight, still doesn't mean it was healthy, and I bet he gains it all back by eating normal again :).
